Credits for photos belong to Pervaiz Munir Alvi saheb. He took the photos on his recent trip to Pakistan and graciously shared them with me. The location is the Grand Trunk (now called highway N5) in Punjab.

While we have discussed Declaration of Emergency, Chronology of a Meltdown, mis-treatment of Imran Khan in recent past, one topic that got missed is what’s Benazir Bhutto up to these days? We would like to hear from our readers. Today, on my drive back from office, I was listening to Imran Khan‘s interview on National Public Radio (NPR). On a question of joining forces with Benazir, Imran Khan replied:

“We would love to join Benazir, except we don’t know whose side she is on today….There is a big mistrust of each other among opposition parties these days”.

I agree. What do you think? Above photos are in no way ATP’s endorsement to Benazir. They simply reflect a glimpse of our society. In addition to that, I personally enjoyed reading the slogan: “faisla zameer da….”

All I am hearing laterly BB can do this, BB can do great, BB can do wonders, BB is the savior and BB has whole Pakistan behind her. This pretty much gave me an impression that the election has been taken out of the public domain and pre-define the winner of forth coming elections. “WAG the Dog” .. does it ring a bell!!!
My belief is that we are about to choose another evil in next elections as I have no good hopes from the current brass of politicians. It’s just a matter of choosing a lesser evil. Without any doubt Benazir doesn’t top that list (lesser evil)
She is clever in a way that she come, she rules, she loots and she walks away. The others are “dheet” they stay, they loot and hope for more like a dog in front of butcher’s shop
    GOD BLESS PAKISTAN!!!

Mian Sahab is coming back, the House of Saud has finally chose to dump the khaki kings of Pakistan in favour of the Pakistani people.

He is not without fault but democracy even with NS and Bibi is far better than dictatorship by Mush.

    Feimanallah Pakistan

In an ideal world, Musharraf would voluntarily step down, the judiciary would be restored, the media unshackled, free elections would be held, Imran Khan would become Prime Minister, Aitzaz Ahsan would become President, and Pakistan would be on its way.

Alas, an ideal world this is not, so we have to find less worse alternatives. I would take an alliance between Benazir and Imran any day over the current state of affairs.

Comparing the Pakistani election process to that in the U.S. is like comparing alloo and tamatar. We repeatedly do so in blogs and discussions. Why? We forget the American democracy evolved over about two hundred years, under conditions that were guarded consistently to ensure the development of a democratic society. For example: the separation of religion and state and freedom for any individual to practice whatever religion they choose. This can only be achieved by rule of law. Pakistani political system on the contrary has not allowed a single elected civilian leader to complete the full term in office. Corruption has always been the valid reason to justify and accept an illegal action, vis-
