Photo news stories used to be a regular feature of ATP. See here, here and here. I am reviving the tradition here. Oh, but the title should not be mixed with akhbar-e-jahaaN‘s series of ‘3 auraten 3 kahaniaan’. If you are looking for fiction, you probably won’t find it here. Below are life moments as they come: visually.
The photo to the right is courtesy of Dawn. It shows motorcyles parked illegally being lifted in Rawalpindi. While supremacy of law is being upheld, I am not sure why the supermanly act atop forklift blades is going on. Who is this guy? Most likely he is the one who puts motorcyles on forklift blades but then he is either too lazy to get back to the seat or he is up there to make sure motorcycles do not fall.
The photo to the left was published in Daily Express couple of days back. Self explanatory it is. A scene of Lahore high court. The elderly man enjoys his quick sooota (cigarette’s puff) right under the No Smoking Zone shade. A ban’s enforced by Supreme Court of Pakistan at all public places and transportation in Pakistan.
So there you go. More food for thought.
Will this is very common in Pakistan. if you give them a chance they would be smoking in the aeroplane. That’s how smokers are they just cannot stop. And without Having Any Respect for the Non-Smokers. I Have Never Been to Singapore but I have heard that the fine you $500 for our smoking in public or throwing a chewing gum out on the street.although something is not realistically possible in our country but we can always introduce something similar or whether something that has an effect on people. The Pan Pichkaree which you can see in Karachi on every corner has to be contained somehow. May God help us all and give us the strengthto keep our country clean and stop people from littering around. No comments on parking in Rawalpindi..
Couple of months ago I had written about how an Indian man was punished for smoking in a public place(click my name for the photo of that incident). He was made to do situps.
I don’t think we can ask this baba jee to do that but there has got to be some other fine for them… may be pay the fine and THEN your case will be heard or something..
Daftar is a dual use word. It means office building when not in the building and an office of an official when within the building.
Clearly, the choice of word on the sign is ambagious. It should have been “building” or “amarat”, if that is the intention. Both are acceptable words in Urdu. It is the person who authorized the sign who is ignorant of the use of language, perhaps even the law.
Besides, this gentleman is doing what I see people all over do when there is an archway in a building; they stand there and share a smoke. It annoys me; but that is where the law is ambagious just as well.
At every turn, the supposed “educated” of Pakistan drop the ball and turn around and blame it on illiteracy or poor or the uneducated. Most of the poor and illiterate people in Pakistan have more common sense, decency and ethics then many of the
Enjoyed this photo essay. The guy on top of the fork lift is mixing work with pleasure – or perhaps he is acting like a guide just in case driver runs into something else on the road – or perhaps the motor cycles are not tied up properly and this gentleman wants to ensure that they do not fall off on pedestrians – a public service?
The second photo is an announcement of illiteracy and apathy combo… Glad to see he is not smoldering inside the office.
Janab Wah ! Maza Aya baat ka. This is usually what we see on roads. I fail to understand why so far havent we grown up as civilised nation. We lack professional approach, although its clear that this nation is a great talented nation . I dont know why this happens. I would like to point out here that, please notice that 80%-90% of Motor-Cycle walas dont have their rear view mirrors on motor-cycles resulting in un-wanted accidents on roads, because they are un-able to see who is behind them and sonay pay sohaga the wear helmets which is a good sign but that makes it more difficult for them to see sideways as well. Atleast we may follow rules & laws as individuals and let go this habbit, “keh mein pehlay nikul jaoun doosray bhaarh mein jain”.
