Innocent Pakistanis continue to pay the price. 95 more martyred in Peshawar today. Why and for what? Our deep condolances to bereaved families. No words left for me to say except a deep numbing effect. I do have a longing and a loud cry for PEACE. Is Pakistan becoming the next Algeria? Dawn coverage here. Jang coverage here. The News coverage here.

What’s really terrible about this is the silence of our political leadership.

What’s the PPP up to? Trying to get the NRO passed; making money of rental power schemes.

What’s Nawaz Sharif up to? Whining about the NRO & Kerry Lugar.

What’s the Jamaat-e-Islami doing? Holding fake referendums about the Kerry-Lugar bill.

What’s Imran Khan doing? Blaming America, Israel and Indi for everything.

What’s the army doing? On one level, the rank and file seem to be fighting, but I can help but suspect that the ISI (and the senior leadership) is still protecting the Afghan Shura.

And what’s happening in the meantime? Over 300 innocent men, women and children have been killed in the last week and a half alone.

Frankly speaking, in the last 4 years or so, the situation in Pakistan has deteriorated to the point of no return. Every time a military coup happens, we hear the familiar speech of “Pakistan at cross-roads”. With the recent bombings as our guide, I fear we’re far past cross roads now, heading on the path to oblivion.

Damn these Taliban. KLillers of Pakistanis.

And the tragedy is that so many people still defend them.,.. these Taliban supporters will show up here soon too.

  3. Sridhar says:

This is tragic – sympathies with the many innocents who have lost their lives in these series of bombings. At least after this, I hope all the institutions of the Pakistani state come together to defeat this self-inflicted cancer. I hope they also realize that the only way to defeat terrorism is to defeat it in all its variants and all its manifestations. That differentiating between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ tanzeems will only ensure that terrorism will continue to thrive, and continue to kill and maim innocents whether in Pakistan or elsewhere.

  4. Viqar Minai says:

This terror is like a raging inferno. And the only way to overcome it is to walk through it.

Do not give in to terror, no matter what the cost!

  5. Hussain says:

This is yet another tragedy that highlights just how much Pakistan and Pakistanis are being made to pay by these Taliban and by the US War on Terror. It is in Pakistan’s own interest to put an end to Taliban once and for all but then also to get out of the US wars which will only destroy our country.
