I usually do not hold politicians in much esteem. But I have found new found respect for a number of them in this video. Specially because the journalist who was trying to be ever so clever comes out looking quite the monkey. He wanted a Bandar ka Tamasha, and he comes out looking like the biggest Bandar himself.
What’s the big point about speaking ‘correct’ English – especially in a country where most people (and certainly most journalists) cannot even speak correct Urdu! Beyond signifying the chooti zehniyat and linguistic insecurity of the journalist himself, the clip only serves to make one respect the ones who refused to answer in English.
If you are going to make a big deal about speaking correct English, maybe you should start by asking your own (rehearsed) question in correct English.
If this was the journalist’s attempt at being funny, the joke is on him… and what a bhounDa joke it is!
Viva Pakistan!!

Most of the things are done in English in Pakistan….especially the judiciary, the bureaucracy and International agreements, etc
What the fuck would a non-English knowing leader would help the country by not being able to speak English?? Will he rely on interpreters and translators who are good at twisting things out of their corrupt ways??? Nonsense. Electing such people as leaders is deadly for the nation!!
As for the interviewer he seems to be a novice and perhaps on trial. did you see him again on any tv channel?? If not you cannot take an oddity to malign the whole media.
If it weren’t for the media you would still be living in stone ages!!
Some comments from the ATP Facebook page:
– “It just shows the level of journalism in our country, they are more interested in Veena Malik and embarrassing Politicians then anything else.
The interviewer couldn’t speak proper English himself and he was making fun of others who couldn’t speak English!
English is not our mother tongue and speaking English or not has nothing to do with someone’s level of intelligence.”
– “What Veena Malik did & What Salman Taseer said Is More Important than the On going rise of Poverty, Illiteracy, Terrorism, Intolerance..etc.
Filthy Journalism!”
– “before we make of fun of others ( which incidentally is an industry in itself ) , we should search ourselves ie if we care for any introspection.”
– “News channels should understand their reversibility as News Channels … these are not ENTERTAINMENT channels !!”
– “Agreed. Speaking English is irrelevant and not a necessary qualification for being a good politician. It shows the channel desplaying an inferiority complex and slave mentality !”
On a lighter note :)

Let me start my comment by saying that the day I am in the agreement with most of my Pakistanis brothers and sisters, I would think that there is something seriously wrong in my way of thinking and I am not doing the justice to myself and others and the country would not be anywhere worse than where it is now.
The gentleman who put up a question in the video is not expected to be correct in the grammar but he was cleared in his message to the generation before him. After all he is the by-product of that generation.
Comments that I liked:
START
“English is not our mother tongue and speaking English isn’t a criteria for judging someone’s level of intelligence”.
“Seriously, If Indian media exposes the incapacity of their politicians to run the country, we enjoy it as some hilarious clips”.
“masses will come to know about the dumb politicians they elected and whom they bestow their trust on in the hope of solving local and national problem”.
“new born Pakistan media for exposing the truth”.
“Even if you are on an English channel you can always give your answer in Urdu or Punjabi or whatever language you feel comfortable with. It’s their job to translate!”
“We send these gentlemen and ladies off to the legislative assemblies”.
” We expect them to be educated enough to be “able” to speak a language which is very much part of our daily business”.
END
A little self-dislike Introspection but I applaud the gentlemen who made this video that I would not call a “bhaunda joke” But rather a Cold reality
“Karwa Ghoont”.
