As we think of ‘independence,’ maybe we should think beyond slogans and naaras. Maybe we should think about what independence really means. Why it is important. How it is lived. Maybe Talib can help us understand all of that.

We have featured a number of videos from the BBC series Shehr Kahani (here, here). It is a wonderful series and never fails to inspire.

Moving video and very timely. This is the real spirit of independence to want to do things for yourself without being dependent on outsiders. One day we wil really put PAKISTAN first. Not USA and Not Saudi Arabia.

The situation in Pakistan is changing drastically…political scenario is amalguming into judical blend…..and lights of freedom and power are dancing in the darkness of 60 years long era…..

Time is calling us…decisive moments are approaching fastly….lets prepare to do what Pakistan is created for….. The white star and moon….the green lush image is going to play the leading role in it…..

and whole of our life is woven between these stars of Pakistan …and burning fires of our hearts….

No Pakistani should celebrate this Independence Day on 14th August. It is such a farce! Who among us really think we live as a free society?

For a nation living under the boots of military, celebrating this day is shameful. I would rather live in an occupied country may it be the Brits or Americans but it is disgraceful when your own military keeps 16 crore of it’s own people hostage and in bondage.

    What “Independence Day”????

We should dismantle our nukes and sell it at the weight of the metal to USA or any other European country and use that money to lay sewer lines in Karachi or other big cities.

Like the missile that was used to murder Bughti, one day our military will use a nuke on another province of Pakistan. They dare not use it against a foreign aggressor and whoever believes in that lives in a fools paradise.

This independence day, all sane voices should unite to get the country rid of nukes. I guarantee it that one day our military will use it against our kids and I hope we don’t live to see that day.

60 years of independence.. .. A nice to know sentence..

What independence we have if you are powerful, wealthy, well connected, influential etc.:

    - Do murder and remain unaccountable,

    - Rape / play with the respect of poors

    - Do what so ever in this land of pure but your all wrongdoings can be nullified and you can become a minister, governer etc.

    - take loan from state owned banks and then forget to pay,

    - take bribe, commisions and sell your motherland and nobody will bother you,

    - Do all illegal acts but no law can be used to make you example.

An independent country where looters, murderers, corrupts etc. are ruling and in abundance!

60 years of independance…. still people are unaware from thier rights..

60 years of independence and still we are begging and claiming to be chooser

Still this country is surviving… but we have to wake up for the sake of this country, motherland, land of pure which is enriched than any place of world..

    Country men wake up please!!!!!!

Pakistan gained independence in 1947 from the British.
Judiciary gained independence on July 20, 2007.

The parliament and the executive are still under military occupation though.

Pakistan will not be a free nation until the corrupt and illegal military occupation of Pakistan comes to an end. This year’s resolution should be for a free Pakistan where the rule of law is supreme, not the rule of army. Ameen.
