Adil Najam
This is absolutely hilarious; and in a thoughtful and thought-provoking way.
Even if you are one of those people who never click on these YouTube clips, make this one an exception. It is really worth a listen. Take my word for it.
Aao bacho sair karaiN tum ko Pakistan ki
Jiss ki khatir hum nay dee qurbani laakhouN jaan ki
I was immediately taken by both the visuals and the words. Using young school kids to convey the satirical message is powerful, and the words cut deep and hit hard. Here are some examples:
On Punjab:
Yahan police aur Qaf-Leauge nay har leader ko ghaira hai
Dour dour tak thakh baithi hai siyasi bradraan ki
Jiss ki khatir hum nay dee qurbani lakhouN jaan ki
On Sindh:
Daikho yeh hai Sindh, yahaN Arbab kay danka bajta hai
Laikin yahaN pay Adar (Order) aur kisi ka chalta hai…
Yeh Sarhad hai iss may MMA ka kaafi zor hai
Mousiqi pay pabandi hai, bass Hasba Bill ka shor hai…
Yahan pay klashinkov bhi milti hai qeemat meiN naan ki
Jiss ki khatir hum nay dee qurbani lakhouN jaan ki
As the kids say at the end, Pakistani Zindabad! :-)
It’s natural to be curious about a country that wants to have a piece of us, literally and figuratively.
And every moment is quite educational. This entire exchange shows for example, just how sensitive and defensive Pakistanis can be when it comes to India. If someone pointed out on an Indian blog that a Hindi movie song was copied from a Pakistani one, there would be some curiosity about the original by some people, maybe a separate thread on all other copies from elsewhere, but the rest would move on. Unlike all the fuming and fretting here. All very humorous.
Mr.Alvi, no one’s asking you to read Indian comments. Move on and indulge in your “big moment”. Sorry, but you can’t tell us where we can spend our time, what we can say or do. The concept might be alien to you having spent a lifetime under military dictatorships, but hopefully the light will shine one day; there are encouraging signs given developments in Pakistan.
Hey why are Indians so interested in us & in whatever we do? Seems like every Indian is working for the intelligence agency assigned on a project to find out everything about Pakistan.
The entire “Bollywood” from movies to songs to the name itself is a copy… common guys lets not even go there…
Pervaiz Munir Alvi you are being over sensitive here. Reminds me of that Sikh/Punjabi joke ‘hor choopo’. :)
Mahi,
You are most welcome here and you should know that PMA like behaviour is quite common on net from both sides. And when I was telling about who copied what, I just wanted to know more about the makers of songs we all love, not at all in the essnce of who is better. And I , and I guess most of the people here, took your comment in the same spirit. So we have amanat ali and india does not, but how will we divide bare ghulam ali khan between us.
awesome,
lyrics are well written and choreography has enhanced the effects of lyrics even more.
nice work.
