I just find this photograph – taken last week in Peshawar – so very interesting. What do you think will happen next? Will one or both of them fall? Will they make it to their destination? Do you think they know each other or is the guy on the bicycle tagging along uninvited? What do you think is in the boxes? What does the ‘takhti’ at the front of the motorcycle read? Why is the guy on teh bicycle resting his foot on the bar instead of the pedal?
There is obviously no answer to any of these questions, but sometimes the simplest of compositions about everyday life makes you think. Even smile!
This is PAKISTANIAT at its best. Mazza aaa gaya.
They are probably part of a team. But if they hit something then what? The other person is mad and all their samaan also gets lost. Not pretty!

Yes, they appear to be quite used to doing this feat. Bicyclist’s foot on the bar insteadof pedal might be a requirement of the balancing act.
I think they belong to the same delivery team. Their confident looks tell me they do this on an every day basis and that may be the reason why the bicyclist has his foot up on the bar. Takhti has safr-ki-dua. I believe there’s very little chance either of them will fall, they are seasoned at this. The goods will be delivered on time! Zaroorat eejad ki maa hoti hai.
