Can you please grade for us the performance of the five power centers in Pakistan: the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, the Chief of Army, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Media. The focus, once again, is on how you think they have performed in these. That is, NOT what you think of Mr. Zardari in general, but what you think of his performance as President.
Back in June 2009 we had asked our readers to grade the performance of those at the helm of powers in Pakistan. Then in September 2009 we had asked you to grade the performance of the Pakistan media. (Earlier in September 2006, you had also graded Gen. Musharraf). It is now time to do a followup and see what people think now, especially after recent political developments.
In this latest installment of ATP Polls we would like to find out how you grade the performance of those holding key offices in Pakistan: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Pervez Kiani, and Opposition Leader Nawaf Sharif. This time we have included the Media (as a whole and as an institution) since they also influence Pakistan’s power balance.
I know I am repeating myself (both in this post and from the previous one), and I also realize that at some level this appeal will be ignored, but do let me say again that the purpose of this exercise is not to see whether you like these people or not, it is to see what how you think they have been performing in the offices they now hold. It is perfectly possible to not particularly like someone but come to the conclusion that they are doing a decent job in what they have been assigned to do, or vice versa. So, please, even though this is just a fun exercise, use your vote justly.
Do also comment on how you think they have been performing, and what aspects of their performance influenced your vote.
Certaily our COAS and CJP are performing at their best as compared to the politicians.
Over the past week Pakistan has read many different news items. From the passing of the 18th amendment to the bomb blast at the US Consulate, much is happening. Some may say the stories are for the betterment of our country while others may disagree. In my mind the successful visit of the Foreign Minister and his entourage to the United States gave Pakistan some much needed positive press. However, the current witch-hunt carried out by the Chief Justice and the ugly battle over the reopening of Zardari’s corruption cases has embarrassed many of those who fought for the independence of the judiciary. Now do not get me wrong, as much as I enjoyed protesting on the streets of Lahore for the reinstatement of the nation’s top judge, I can’t fathom Mr. Iftikhar’s current agenda of picking and choosing his enemies. When will we be able to see actual results from the “democratically” elected officials and the “independent” judiciary we as a nation have struggled to achieve for 62 years? When will stop pointing fingers and vilifying those whom we disagree with? Or have we gotten used to being stuck in this whirlpool of revengeful politics. Honestly, we Pakistanis have gotten sick and tired of the lies and broken promises.

The entire nation today depends on our leaders and their insight on the Taliban. Just like a few days a very good politician made a controversial statement about the the Taliban and his province. It ignited a fire in the country. We must be very firm with the Taliban and defeat them.
Mr.Zardari: i think his performance is average coz he is not doing thngs which a head of state should do for his country
Mr.Gillani: he is doing well with limited powers .
Mr.Kayani: i rated him average coz the success which is associated with army in waziristan and swat was actually support provided by politicians which changed the favour of masses that helped army fight this battle.Good thing about kayani is he is not interferring in politics and so it shoud be coz pakistan was made by the civilians for the civilians and to be ruled by the civilians.
Mr. Iftikhar chauhdary: he is doing an excellent job.Fighting against corruption is big deal.INSHALLAH now judiciary will never support any coup by army.
Mr.Nawaz sharif: doing good.At least he has learnt a lesson to be patient.
Media: doing excellent job.Creating awearness in masses is a job well done by media.
I vote B (good) for Kiyani, just as I did for Gillani.
But I voted good for Kiyani because he is NOT interfering in politics. If he did interfere it would become an F very very quickly.
