Adil Najam
Take a look at this new Ad campaign from Zong. It is, to say the least, different.
I saw it at Teeth Maestro’s blog and I am still trying to figure out what to make of it. As a song. As a video. As message. As an advertisement. What do you make of it?
I think this song gives a good message to those who have the capital and opportunities to do something for those who do not have….
I think ad is quite good.
Remember that this is a commercial; they are paying directly for their air-time. Unless the message is outright offensive (which it certainly is not), then it makes no sense to pass judgments on its philosophical message.
@Asad, do you really think those who live in Pakistan are so naive?
I agree with Asad.
I think it gives one more reason to Pakistanis to think that (a) our problems are caused by someone else and (b) or solutions will come from Pakistanis who make it ‘big’ outside instead of us doing anything ourselves.
This is a bad social message.
The song itself is nice enough, although very very cheesy. But the MESSAGE IS REALLY DISTURBING.
The Ad is shown in Pakistan so it is for PAKISTANIS IN PAKISTAN.
So, what is the Message?
It is really saying to Pakistanis in Pakistan, that you have to do nothing (or keep doing what you have been dong which is how we got into this mess) because it is the responsibility of Pakistanis who live outside to make money and come back and save Pakistan. The message is that someone will come from outside to help Pakistan because Pakistanis in Pakistan cannot.
I do not see that as a good message. It only gives Pakistanis in Pakistan an excuse to do nothing and blame those who left instead of looking at what they themselves have done or cold do!!!!
Excellent
