Read this news from The Express Tribune and tell me how this is not idiotic:

KARACHI: A doctor has been arrested on charges of blasphemy in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday. Naushad Valiyani was detained on Friday following a complaint by a medical representative who visited the doctor in the city of Hyderabad. “The arrest was made after the complainant told the police that Valiyani threw his business card, which had his full name, Muhammad Faizan, in a dustbin during a visit to his clinic,” regional police chief Mushtaq Shah told AFP. “Faizan accused Valiyani of committing blasphemy and asked police to register a case against the doctor.”

Shah said the issue had been resolved after Valiyani, a member of the Ismaili community apologised but local religious leaders intervened and pressed for action. “Valiyani had assured Faizan that he did not mean to insult the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) by throwing the visiting card in the dustbin,” Shah said, adding that the police had registered a case under the Blasphemy Act.

Please tell me, who is insulting the Prophet (PBUH) in this case (as in so many others)? Who is the real “threat” to the “Namoos-e-Rasool“?

Using the Prophet’s name in vain and for spreading personal and petty hatred is itself an insult to the Prophet’s (PBUH) message and person. Anyone who cares for “Namoos-e-Rasool” should feel insulted and incensed at how this “namoos” is being ridiculed by the purveyors of hate in the name of blasphemy.

Maybe we should have a law against parents naming their children ‘Muhammad’. Let me confess I have two children whose middle name is ‘Muhammad’ and I sometimes do end up shouting at them or chiding them for not doing their homework. Does this, now, also count as blasphemy?

For Allah’s sake, give me a break. Please! If not me, at least give the Prophet (PBUH) a break!

P.S. For those unable to read Urdu, the verse at the top of this post is from Iftikhar Arif: “Rehmat-i-Syed-i-Lolaak pey kamil eeman / Ummat-i-Syed-i-Lolaak say khauf aata hai.” I hope readers who are better translators than me can provide a translation befitting this verse.

Adnan, you are a LIAR and a THUG. I have never used the word Qadiani or Shia and you lie about it without even thinking. Either you think you are God and know everything not even said, in which case you are committing SHIRK. Or you are purposely inciting hatred just like the idiot who accused this doctor, in which case you are a HATE-MONGER. In either case you are a dispicable liar. And I have no interest in talking to human scumbag liars like you.

Not only are you a liar but an idiot if you think that other readers cannot read the previous comments. Either show me where I mentioned either Qadianis or Shias, or stop lying. Allah will punish you for this lying one way or the other and people like you who spread lies and hatred have blood on their hands.

  2. Adnan says:

To reply furthet to Psuedo Liberal who is asking to ‘respect’ faiths like Qadyaniat and Shiaism. I have a question. Would you respect a person or an ideology which promotes to abuse and offend your father or to malign his teachings or his friends? Will you give a ‘Flying kiss’ to such people offending your respected father? Yes you can do this only if you are unfaithful to your dad. In short, a beghairat. Now get back to teachings of both cult then preach me or others whether I should respect those faith or not.

How long before his conviction is overturned and the case against him is withdrawn and some imbecile mullah places a bounty on his head.

    Well-done dear Adil.
I think it is not a question of law or justice. It is sheer ‘jahalat’ and ghundagardi. The law of blasphemy which was evidently made to legalize this crazy ferocity in the name of blasphemy resulted only in adding the tyranny of coward and corrupt police and judiciary to the murderous violence by the religious fanatics goaded by the professional mullah. The problem therefore is not the abuse of law but the mindset and behaviour of the people with their traits of corruption, violenence and cowardliness. How succinctly and beautifully Allama Iqbal had described this in his couplet:

“Kisey khabar thi kih ley kar charaagh-e-Mustafvi
Jahaan mein aag lagaati phirey gi Bulehbi”

(One can substitute ‘namoos’ for ‘charaagh’ to make it more pertinent )

    – “why everyone taking the exam of all pakistanis’ patience we r emotional enough that will be harmful for everyone”
    – “it is a stupid law and it should be history ”
    – ” i think the police need to be educated here. Qatl ki FIR is not registered, but without any thought such FIRs are.”
    – “In case of Blasphmey it is one person’s word against another. It is a weapon that can be used against any non Muslim. All you have to say is that so and so commited blasphmey and you get to hang them. Nice way to settle personal vendettas against people you don’t like. I would like to ask someone the basis of this law in Sharia.
As far as i remember our Holy Prophet (SAW) didn’t cut off people’s head for calling him names, or throwing garbage on him. He didn’t go around killing non- muslims because they didn’t convert to Islam or made life difficult for them to live. Waraqa bin Naoufal was hazrat Khadija’s cousin, he was a Christian and a friend of Prophet Mohammad SAW.
You can’t force people to respect you or your religion by implementing laws against these people.
Asiya’s fault was that she offered water to women who were working in the fields and they refused water from her because she is a non muslim. That is when an argument started between the women.
We lived with people of all faiths in Pakistan before, what has changed now?
We had churches and girjas and they minded their own business and we minded our own. At least that is how i remember it when i was growing up…
Thanks too Wahabi propaganda being spread via airwaves and in masajid with Saudi backing we have become an intolerant, hating, bigoted and vengeful group of people….That is not what Islam teaches us…… Islam teaches us tolerance, loving your neighbor, helping the poor, giving charity, respecting your elders, loving your children, looking after the planet and the list goes on and on.
Islam has been used by politicians and political movements with a certain agenda as a tool to reach a certain goal and in the process the “Spirit” of Islam has been lost.
It is tragic that the Saudis have the money to exert their influence and their toxic Intolerant Wahabi ideology upon us through building madrassas and institutions and giving us charity as we always are in need of someone’s help. Their charity is costing us dearly, we have sold our souls to the Saudis and Wahabis. May God help us…”
    – “This is absolute ignorance from us Pakistanis that we are becoming a tool in hands of all those who are using Islam for their personal interests.
That guy WHO Happened to be a NON Muslim threw a card in dustbin and The person( A Muslim ) w…hose name was on the card regarded as as an Insult for himself and he could not do anything against that Doctor so he USED this Blasphemy law to take a revenge, by saying this that his name Muhammad Faizan was on the card and discarding that card into dustbin is Insulting Prophet Muhammad.
For God’s Sake people open your eyes and wake up, Every day , I say Every day in Pakistan we Discard, Trash, Burn, and throw away into drains countless pieces of paper , News paper and books that have Name Muhammad on them but because its not Muhammad PBUH , and because its a of name another Muslim WE DONT CARE. but if a NON Muslim does it , its Blasphemy ??????
    Hypocrisy darn mad Hypocrisy.”
