Adil Najam

Following the targeting to Aaj TV station during the May 12 riots in Karachi, Gen. Pervez Musharraf gave an exclusive long interview to Talat Hussain and Aaj, much like he had given an interview to Geo after the attack on Geo. Here is a how it went.

Thanks to Saad for putting this on YouTube and sharing.

    —————
Ary One World reported this morning that Jamali has resigned from the Q league. Chuadhry Shujaat has refused to accept his resignation and is trying to convince him to stay in the party.

Abdullah……. I m not the one to play the blame game obviously you couldn’t see the bigger picture… Bhutto is a women who looted the country day and night and who else would you blame? I have the utmost respect for women but women can be wrong too can’t they? Anyways I hate getting into an arguement on this blog and hence rest my case ….
Even with Pakistan’s liberals on his side and the support of the world and the power of the military this man neither has the will to exercise his power at the right time for Pakistan nor the wisdom to know where to strike
Aisha,Well that’s called the mighty wisdom of liberals that is, they ‘re brainless? :-)

Infact the “World Power” you mentioned here is actually US which is ruled by right wing neocons[who are not Liberals]. The right wing cabal has been fooling Pakistani liberal for long time and our liberals don’t even realize *grin*. Infact right wing has been fooling left wing everywhere in world.
I am shocked at myself but I am willing to admit that I am finally beginning to re-align myself with Nawaz and Benazir even though they looted the country! atleast they knew what peace and rule of law is!!
Clearly, you didn’t live in Karachi during ‘92-’95 or even later during the reins of Nawaz and Benazir.

If I get a chance to talk to Mush, I’ll tell him many things. But, one thing I will make sure to tell him is that he shouldn’t speak Urdu. I mean his Urdu-speaking skills are awful–looks like a complete jahil. Just speak in English–to me, at least it’s better than his Urdu speaking skills. Better yet, speak in Turkish (since he loves and boasts about it so much) and people would just read Urdu subtitles!!
two things:
    1. I sure didnt live in Karachi but Karachi, per se, is not Pakistan. the 4 provinces together makes up Pakistan. In other words, why is it only when Karachi and Punjab r under threat, u patriot youngsters wake up with ur emotional patriotic Pakistani Unity flag, yet when the rest of the country especially pukhtunkhwa is being treated like 2nd class citizens for 60yrs, thats all good?
    2. Benazir’s operation clean-up conducted by Naseerullah Babar was, although not within the rule of law, was nevertheless a genuine attempt to rein in these terrorists known as MQM. I have nothing against the muhajirs, but i have everything against their leaders.

very typical responses to the interview. Karachi has always been an extremely voilent city. Every ruler has come and gone, but nothing has changed in Karachi.

The sad fact is that now we as Pakistanis have dug such a deep trench for ourselves that it will be extremely hard for us to come out. And as a result our future generations will also suffer, because we basically don’t have any proper laws to go by. Even if there are laws, nobody abide by it.

I am not a pessamistic, but a realistic, and I seriously don’t see any future for Pakistan. Musharaff or not? it won’t make a difference. The poison has gone through each and every citizen and there is no other way, but to imputate it. Harsh, but that is the truth.
