Following the targeting to Aaj TV station during the May 12 riots in Karachi, Gen. Pervez Musharraf gave an exclusive long interview to Talat Hussain and Aaj, much like he had given an interview to Geo after the attack on Geo. Here is a how it went.

Talat Hussain asked just the right questions…as a journalist you also want to give the guest some room to just talk and make a fool of himself, he had just the right combination of hard/soft questions. Esp. Aren’t 7 years enough to do a roll back on extremism? To which Musharraf ploughed a field of geo-political hogwash.
Musharraf wants us to think there are two realities in Pakistan, the extremists or “Islamic militants” and the progressives. And that only HE can march on with the progressives to enlightened moderation. Even with Pakistan’s liberals on his side and the support of the world and the power of the military this man neither has the will to exercise his power at the right time for Pakistan nor the wisdom to know where to strike.
A sour disappointment, this man.
Adanan, you may be right, governor’s rule in Sndh is a strong possibility because, true to his blackmailing tactics, Altaf has threatened to withdraw his MQM from the government. This is not bad for MQM at all because Mush will very willingly appoint a nominee of Altaf as a governor. So here they are.
But, I think MQM will never leave the government because they have become corrupted by the power and it will deprive of the funds which they have been spending on so-called ‘mega projects’in Karachi.
