This notice board is from Food Street, Lahore. It reads:
“Entering the ‘Food Street’ wearing shorts is strictly prohibited: Food Street Administration”
Among other things on this notice board, I enjoyed reading the word sakht (strictly). As if the word forbidden didn’t sound serious enough, the administration had to add a prefix strictly forbidden to make sure people undrestand that administration means business here.

Shorts just show the parts of legs from kneew to feet. Where say people who roam around with Rupa kay banyaan exposing their manly tits, thats indecent. All these butchers and roti wallah, doodhwala roam in gali mohallahs with that rupa baniyaan on, shouldn’t there be a sign in our gali mohalahs which would say shorts okay but shirt compulsory.
mazhar why people of clifton or defence have no problem with shorts?
When you say “Wearing shorts at public places is greatly indecent, obnoxious and shameful, especially when women are around.”
I think it all depends how short your shorts are? you sound like you are talking about thongs.
Its hairy people who need shorts the most when it gets really HOT and imagine no electricity.
those who are proponents of wearing shorts I challenge them to traverse the streets of Karachi (except Defence/Clifton) wearing shorts and see the result. Wearing shorts at public places is greatly indecent, obnoxious and shameful, especially when women are around. If some ”chief hairy King’ wants to show his bristles or manhood he better show it in the boxing ring or the arena. No body cares for his ‘manhood” ,,,,only it’s indecent ,obscene and disgusting when women folk or children are around. I had been wearing shorts in my teens but only at the sports ground or in the boxing ring as these are the right places to exhibit your ‘fibre’
I hope those wearing shorts in public would review their outlook towards it and take to reasonable decency in their attire in relation to their environment.. Unfortunately, the fad of wearing shorts is restricted to some areas which are less populatedI as compared to downtown) or where a bit of less ”socially sensitive or caring” people dwell.
I think some are getting carried away by this, in many US restaraunts you will see signs like this, some are as blunt as “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service”(usually near beaches.) Some places more decorum is required, some places less. Nothing wrong with that.
somebody was mentioning about gorillas, i wonder why europeans dont have enough hair on their skin, and chinese men have none. Atleast im happy to have hair, many mosquitos r found strangled to death in them in the morning :)
maybe its a disgusting site to stare at a desi’s hairy legs while having tandoori chicken or sardaar ki machli…
