This picture is worth looking at for its photographic value alone. But can you guess where in Pakistan this was taken? (Photographer credits will be shared later).

I agree, it can’t be Rawal Lake, the hill is too close to the lights. The other end has a hill next to the shore, but isn’t this big. Besides photoshop tells me its barely a lake, too dried up and too small to be Rawal lake.

Owais, I visited Rawal lake about 15 years ago so I don’t remember the details clearly. But isn’t Islamabd a long way from Rawal lake? The lights in the photo appear to be just off the shore of the lake.

Adil bhai, this is a difficult one. I thought I was very good in recognizing Pak places but for this one I can not narrow it down to one place.

The lights in the photo are too bright (almost like stadium flood lights) which means it cannot be a small town or ‘qasba’. It has to be a suburb of a major city.

Also the height of mountains is not too high which rules out Balochistan (thus Quetta/Hanna). Sindh is out too b/c I am very familiar with Sindh scenery.

NWFP is probably out b/c it doesn’t have a lake side town with so many bright lights around .

so I think it has to be Punjab. Our readers have guessed Kallar Kahar or Rawal Lake so far. Both very good guesses. If I have to choose b/w the two, i’ll choose Rawal lake just b/c of the brightness of lights which probably belong to Islamabad suburb. My skepticism of Rawal Lake comes from the fact the Murree hills usually show up in a cascade. Here we see only one hill. May be it is just the view or angle that I never saw before :) May be it is one of the Margalla hills which do not show in cascades but just one and the photo is taken from the OTHER side (doosra kinara :)) of the Rawal Lake looking towards Islamabad

So in my opinion it is closest to be Rawal lake but I am not 100% sure.

Never been to Kalar Kahar, so cannot say for sure if it is or isn’t.

    It can be Rawal.

But it is definitely not Saiful-Muluk, or Shangrila (lower Kachura), or Henna.

Mountain lines are continues and way much higher in elevation for Saiful-Muluk or Shangrila (lower Kachura), and relatively less higher for Henna.

Images are always missing for me…in your email and even when I visit pakistaniat.com. All I get to see is a flag and the instruction “for missing image, visit pakistaniat.com”. But others seem to be seeing the images. What should I do? Is it about some kind of settings? And it was not always like this. I rem some time back, I could see the images both in the email and on the website. Any help?
