Back on August 18, 2008 – right before Gen. Pervez Musharraf announced his resignation – we conducted an ATP Poll asking our readers what Pakistan would look like after Musharraf. Now, two months after the event, it seems like a good time to repeat the question. So, here is our new ATP Poll. Do tell us what you think? We have tried to match the wording of the questions to those asked last time so that one can have better comparison.

The results of our previous poll on the subject, were interesting, but not surprising.

Partisans on each side dominated the discussion, and the numbers (these are respresentative of no greater truth than the readership of this blog and the passions of those on any side).  Around a third of the respondents (34 percent) felt that things would generally become better; somewhat more (42 percent) felt things would generally get worse; some 22 percent felt that only faces will change and no other real change would materialize.

So, now that we have two months under our belt, what can we say? Or, and maybe, it is still too early to say anything? If so, we can always do this again in a few months and see how and if opinions change.

    well , the current state of economy hasnt developed overnight.It took a full year for the foreign reserves to come to such pathetic levels.Mush was far better than current rulers or the previous ones.It isnt possible to keep an artificial state of economy stable for 8 years as some might suggest, not to talk of overseas investors.

    note carefully what Milstone and other Pakistan haters are saying…. They are saying that Pakistanis are somehow bad person and Pakistan should not exist because we do not deserve to…..

    All I can say to such agents of our enemies is if you don’t like it then leave it…. We

    the results are actuallynot that different from last time even though comments would show all he’ll has broken loose

    I guess ISI types and military dictatorship supporters have a vested interest in weakening democracy and are shameful enough to do so even if it means spreading lies about Pakistan and spoiling the country’s image

    It is amazing how low dictatorship supporters will go to abuse Pakistan and Pakistanis

    Why do we have Zaradari & Company as our leader?

    The best answer I got is as follows;

    ”In a field of dead bodies and souls, you will always have vultures, wings spread eyes fixed, on top!”

    Indeed, our national spirit & soul is not only dead but now essentially the carcass is stinking to have bought in the likes of Zardari & company!

    NS, AZ and other political chors have no stakes in Pakistan. They dont care about Pakistan at all. One government does something, the next government comes and reverse everything and we are back to square one. I dont want this democracy in which inflation rises to alomost 40% and dollar reaches from $60 (stayed for 9 yrs) to $85 in only 6 months.

    Inflation is actuallty an indirect tax on people.

    This government is keep on printing the money just to fill their own accounts. This government has printed money little more than that was printed in last 9 yrs.

    Hail to Democracy in Pakistan.
