Should we be proud of what these guys did? Or ashamed of it?

Supposedly, Brain was the world’s first computer virus. Does that make it a technology marvel or another illegal act? On the one hand I think there is nothing smart or funny about messing up other’s computers. On the other hand, they seem to have acted in naivety rather than malice. What do you think?

Should you be proud of your blog post? Or, ashamed of it? Should you ask questions or make statements? As a journalist (or even a blogger) your job is to set forth an opinion. Asking a question in the title is a very lazy approach to journalism.

Please, for once, express an opinion. If you’re confused, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCNIBV87wV4

    Or, you can read this:

    Totally like whatever, you know?

    In case you hadn’t noticed,
    it has somehow become uncool
to sound like you know what you’re talking about?
Or believe strongly in what you’re saying?
Invisible question marks and parenthetical (you know?)’s
have been attaching themselves to the ends of our sentences?
Even when those sentences aren’t, like, questions? You know?

    Declarative sentences – so-called
because they used to, like, DECLARE things to be true
as opposed to other things which were, like, not –
have been infected by a totally hip
and tragically cool interrogative tone? You know?
    Like, don’t think I’m uncool just because I’ve noticed this;
this is just like the word on the street, you know?
    It’s like what I’ve heard?
I have nothing personally invested in my own opinions, okay?
I’m just inviting you to join me in my uncertainty?

What has happened to our conviction?
Where are the limbs out on which we once walked?
Have they been, like, chopped down
with the rest of the rain forest?
Or do we have, like, nothing to say?
Has society become so, like, totally . . .
    I mean absolutely . . . You know?
That we’ve just gotten to the point where it’s just, like . . .
    whatever!

And so actually our disarticulation . . . ness
is just a clever sort of . . . thing
to disguise the fact that we’ve become
    the most aggressively inarticulate generation
    to come along since . . .
you know, a long, long time ago!

I entreat you, I implore you, I exhort you,
I challenge you: To speak with conviction.
To say what you believe in a manner that bespeaks
the determination with which you believe it.
Because contrary to the wisdom of the bumper sticker,
it is not enough these days to simply QUESTION AUTHORITY.
You have to speak with it, too.

This is wrong information, I have come across this before and its one of those internet myths floating around. The first computer virus was in the US, the cradle of computer science. The Phillipines has the dubious honor of producing the largest amount of computer viruses.

Go to former Saeed book bank in Peshawar, or the bigger one in Islamabad, and you will find a small selection of IT-related books. That is because Pakistanis are not into computer science or IT, what to mention of creating world’s first viruses!

The comments show how we as a society have no respect for law and decency. If you make heroes out of hackers (and not particularly talented ones) then you turn out a nation of hacks!

Things should be utilized in more positive ways,i doubt if that day would come or not when we will actually see the good positive side of Pakistan.i m sure there will be many but why we alwayz bring something on the board which for the time seems totally rediculous :(:(

Wish they had put their mind to something better.
