After an intense, and sometimes tense, debate in Parliament, Asif Ali Zardari’s government has now promulgated the ‘Nizam-e-Adl’ regulation in Swat. The deal is now official. In this ATP Poll, we would like to ask you if you think that this deal will still be standing in 3 month’s time and, whether it would or not, who (government or Taliban) would be stronger?
There are, of course, other questions related to the Nizam i Adl deal. For example, will this spur more demands from other areas for similar regulations? Will this actally bring peace and justice to Malakand? What form of Shariah will actually be implemented? What effect will this deal have on the ruling coalition itself?
These, and other questions may not be part of the Poll – which focusses only on whether the deal will last 3 months and who will emerge stronger out of this at the 3-month mark. However, we hope that readers will discuss these – and any other – larger questions about just what the implications of this Nizam-i-Adl deal will be on Swat and all over Pakistan.
I doubt these guys would ever live peacefully. I mean come on, they bomb mosques and ordinary people. They openly admit to recruiting children as young as 5 for suicide bombing. Most of you have probably seen it but check out this documentary by a lady who documents how the Taliban ruin innocent childrens lives and recruit them as suicide bombers. Its a shame we have come to a point where we are so helpless that we have to agree to the terms and conditions of these barbarian! I just hope the general population, those in power, and educated folks can unite and do something about it so that we can save these children, and be proud of our culture and land! the link is follow:

Today Shariat in Swat in return for Peace, tomorrow Shariat in Pakistan in return for Peace…This is their aim because it has been clearly stated that they’d like to ‘enforce’ shariat in other parts of Pakistan also. Their shariat will mean the absence of human rights and basic freedom for mahority Pakistanis. Do we have a short term memory loss as a nation? Do we not remember what these people did in Afghanistan? Where is our Army when we need them? Why are they silent and not suggesting to this weak and inept government that they have done irreversible damage to Pakistan? How can a whole administration, the government and the army be complacent about this? Is there no one left in the corridors of power who knock some sense into the powers that be?
@Gorki: LOL. Now this is called “Imposing” something or “Talibanization”. I would not oppose something because it was put forward by the group of people who don’t wear designers’ clothes :-)
A news appear in Today’s Jang. If it’s true then great!

Thank you for quoting those ayahs. In my point of view, those ayahs apply to the Muslim rulers this ummah has today. They consider all religious Muslims to be fools and they slander them by calling them mullahs and so on. And they think they are spreading peace by spreading democracy, secularism, capitalism, but all it is doing is corrupting the land, bringing in immorality, and poverty.
I will quote Ayas 11, 12 ,13 & 16 of Surah Al Baqra
‘And when it is said to them, Do not make mischief in the land, they say: We are but peace-makers.
Now surely they themselves are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive
And when it is said to them: Believe as the people believe they say: Shall we believe as the fools believe? Now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know’
These are they who buy error for the right direction, so their bargain shall bring no gain, nor are they the followers of the right direction’
