Dear Readers,
While All Things Pakistan has remained alive and online, it has been dormant since June 11, 2011 - when, on the blog's 5th anniversary, we decided that it was time to move on. We have been heartened by your messages and the fact that a steady traffic has continued to enjoy the archived content on ATP. While the blog itself will remain dormant, we are now beginning to add occasional (but infrequent) new material by the original authors of the blog, mostly to archive what they may now publish elsewhere. We will also be updating older posts to make sure that new readers who stumble onto this site still find it useful.
We hope you will continue to find ATP a useful venue to reflect upon and express your Pakistaniat. - Editors
Yes it should be man-hole
Is’nt the correct word is man-hole whereas the picture caption says main hole. I am confused.
I agree that this is not a funny picture. I chose it because I was shocked at the caption that this action was part of a job entry test. Growing up in Pak I’ve seen such scenes numerous times where humans have to get in the sewers to remove clogs, but this photo caption made me sad. How do one passes this entry test? by showing that they are not afraid to do this? or by practising before hand to come prepared for this test? While I believe ‘mehnat mein azmat hai’, this job test felt below human diginty.
Why not help this person by seeing why they don’t get him proper safety equipment?
Also, all professions deserve respect.
This is not the way of doing test or in real at job also, this is inhuman. Government must provide them proper uniform. They are also human and have dignity. Be in their shoes and you will realize. Allah, made everyone equal, so we must treat everyone nicely and with all the proper means.
One can understand the comments that it’s Pakistan and not USA or Japan, but if our Politicians, Government officials, Feudal Lords and industrialists stop eating country’s resources with unjust means and use these resources with honestly, we would have enough money for development expenditures (hospitals, schools, roads, infrastructure and better equipments sensitive jobs including for the lower class workers).
