Adil Najam

The headline screams out that more than 40 people are dead after a heartless and soulless suicide attack on a mosque in Rawalpindi. The story under it tells us that more than half of those butchered are children.

Numb. Enraged. Without words. One stares into space.

How many such headlines have we seen? How many more are we destined to see?

Carnage. Bloodshed. Callousness. Hatred.

These are not things that anyone with a modicum of humanity can become used to. Yet, the world passes us by. Its not even news for the rest of the world. They are too busy worrying about “their” Taliban, to care about what “our” Taliban are doing. In the crazy world that we have manufactured, not every death is created equal. And certainly not every life.

Once again, Pakistanis die. Once again, Pakistanis cry. Alone.

Once again, Pakistanis stare into the darkness of nothingness, looking for answers. There are few words of sympathy from those who claim to be our friends. There are only sneers and jeers from those who are our enemies.

Why, one asks, why? Why do they hate us so?

In this video interview one would-be suicide bomber speaks up. It is harrowing. Listen, if you will, to the voice of hatred. Listen, if you can, to what Pakistan’s enemy sounds like.

Babar, maybe you are distracted by your ‘disappointment’. The enemy is not just named it heard and its seen and is the entire point of the post from Adil, in that video at the climax.

I don’t see the post asking for anyone’s help. But maybe a little sympathy and understanding will give better resolve to the people in Pakistan who are doing all the dying!

  2. Babar says:

Adil, I am very disappointed in you. Why you failed to name “the enemy”? It is the Jihadi culture, Jihadi Organizations and rampant Talibization of society which is our enemy. No one from outside can help us with them. It is only us who can do it but we are too scared to even look in the eyes of anyone with a beard. That is the actual reality and cause of trouble in Pakistan.

  3. NO TO TALIBANS says:

It is a chilling video. I think exposing teh thinking of these killers has to be a part of the effort so that the brainwashed mullahs who somehow think that these killers are doing this for “Islam” are shown who they really are. As for outsiders who want to blame things on Islam, even seeing this will not get the bigotry and propaganda out of their heart. They too are brainwashed, so lets not even worry about that.

All Pakistanis are now in the war against the Taliban and we must win that war.

    PAKISTAN ZINDABAD

The whole country is now behind the fight against the Taliban. The military, the civil govt and ordinary people. They are now desperate and that is why they have stepped up on the killing.

Sadly, the only forces who want Pakistan to do LESS in the fight against the Taliban in Pakistan are the American (who would rather have Paksitan focus on helping them in cleaning the mess in Afghanistan) and the Indians (who would rather have Pakistan help them in dealing with terrorism in India). Neither of them understand that the first step towards a larger solution is cleaning up the Taliban in Pakistan.

yes, sure. And the Taliban came out of thin air. You must be so right.

Keep going. Gloat on children’s death if it gives you pleasure.

I remember after 9/11 and then again after Mumbai there were those who tried to make bigoted arguments about how the US or India had “brought it on themselves” by their own actions. I always found these arguments very distressing and cheap and dehumanizing. I find the arguments about how Pakistan has “brought it on itself” to be exactly the same.
