In a country where the Chief Justice is kicked out in such an abusive and insulting manner. Does anyone care about the performances of these cricketers? Everyone knows that there is no accountability to check anyone, so do whatever is good for you and not for Pakistan.

I guess its true, you’ve got to redefine your idea of success according to your goals. And you’ve got to redefine your goals according to your resources. Now, the Pakistan cricket team’s goals are not anything beyond the semis. Even the semis seem like a far cry looking at their current form and condition. Hence, the sceptic in me says they’ll bow out in the Super 8’s, while my optimistic side says that they’ll make it to the semis. Either way, my goal for my team is to reach the semis. If they do, it’ll be a success.

Pakistan’s team can beat teams like Australia and South Africa by 10 wickets on one day and they will loose from Kenya and Bangladesh in even the worst manner the very next day with the same players.

To be very honest, I’m not at all hopeful that they’ll even qualify this time to the semis.

I am glad people are at least honest in their evaluations here. I saw this poll that the PCB is doing on its website asking people who will win the world cup. Around 5500 people have responded (really!) and 61 percent believe that Pakistan will. I hope it does, but what are these people smoking. Or how much is PCB paying them to say this.

I think we will surprise ourselves and reach the semis. Wetend to do well when the odds are against us. It is when they are FOR us that we falter

I’ve gone through too much heartache in the past regarding my hopes for Pakistan with regards to Cricket. I’m afraid I am very pessimistic at the moment especially with Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif being out of action. We don’t really have a credible bowling attack and our batting is inconsistent to say the least.

Of course I will still secretly be hoping against hope….
    PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!!!!

    I am rooting for Bangladesh.

Realistically, making it to the Super Eight is the best that one should expect, and even there I wouldn’t put it past Zimbabwe or Ireland to cause an upset.

However, one will still be backing the team in every match, and if they do manage to reach the semi-finals somehow then anything can happen!

After all, in 1992 they were pretty much down and out after the first few matches, and they had to rely on the weather to avoid defeat against England, and then even after winning their last group match still had to hope for a favourable result in the Australia vs West Indies game to reach the semi-final. That was certainly a miraculous run. Perhaps it can happen again – but I’m not counting on it.
