Adil Najam

After an intense, and sometimes tense, debate in Parliament, Asif Ali Zardari’s government has now promulgated the ‘Nizam-e-Adl’ regulation in Swat. The deal is now official. In this ATP Poll, we would like to ask you if you think that this deal will still be standing in 3 month’s time and, whether it would or not, who (government or Taliban) would be stronger?

There are, of course, other questions related to the Nizam i Adl deal. For example, will this spur more demands from other areas for similar regulations? Will this actally bring peace and justice to Malakand? What form of Shariah will actually be implemented? What effect will this deal have on the ruling coalition itself?

These, and other questions may not be part of the Poll – which focusses only on whether the deal will last 3 months and who will emerge stronger out of this at the 3-month mark. However, we hope that readers will discuss these – and any other – larger questions about just what the implications of this Nizam-i-Adl deal will be on Swat and all over Pakistan.

  1. Aamir Ali says:

Swat is no longer part of Pakistan due to the NAR (surrender) agreement. It’s best you all recognize that and at least oppose the Taliban in other parts of the leftover Pakistan.

  2. Matt says:

A part of Pakistan died when that deal was signed. A part of what Pakistan has always been in my heart and a part of what it was always meant to be. We need more than order. More than discipline. More than education. We need real, daring love.

Too bad we’re a hateful species.

  3. PAKISTANI says:

This is NOT the Nizam-e-Adl deal. It is the Nizam-e-Jahlia deal!

  4. ali raza says:

Adil, your description of the debate is misleading. There was no debate. A couple of guys spoke, ayaaz amir among them. The MQM walked out. The clean shaven mullahs then voted the nation back towards jahalia via civil war.

  5. Enlightener says:

Taliban should have formed a political party and then they should have asked the people to vote them if they want Sharia Law. Taliban have no right to rule people by guns. These taliban are the enemy of Pakistan. They blew up more than 200 schools. Why are we letting our enemy breed in our own backyard and then destory our own country? This Pakistan is Jinnah’s Pakistan and not of the taliban. Taliban have no right to destabilize Pakistan. PLEASE GUYS: try to understand… these taliban mate with animals (donkeys, goats etc) and increase their population. Slowly and gradually they will take over the entire Pakistan.
Pakistan Army is not interested in fighting these taliban. It’s us, the people of pakistan, the civilized people of Pakistan, who should do something against these sadist taliban. They flog innocent girls in public, they blow up our schools, they behead people in public, they stone people to death in public, do you really think we can let these sadist taliban to live in our backyard? at least I don’t think so. SO PLEASE: In the name of GOD, do something. DO SOMETHING!! These taliban are not muslim. They are just using Islam as an excuse to rule Pakistan. These taliban are…they are… they are animals…

Every Pakistani girl and boy should learn martial art.. kung fu… shooting guns with pinpoint accuracy etc. That’s the only way can protect our country against these criminals. Girls, instead of asking for women rights against sexual harassment, should learn karate and then whenever they are harrased by someone they should beat that person to death. By learning martial art, one also gets very disciplined, and discipline is the only thing our nation needs. We, the Pakistanis, should maintain discipline no matter what. We all should be like extremely trained soldiers, and we should follow the orders of the head of the state, no matter who he is.

    Please guys, do something!!!

I’m also please requesting the pakistaniat.com not to delete my comment. You guys delete my comment. I don’t know why.
