The Pakistan womens’ cricket T20 team won the gold medal at the Guangzhou Asian Games after a flawless performance throughout the competition. Let me post some pictures from the finals that can do the talking much better than my words:
With India not participating, Pakistan was already the favorite going into the Olympics, but they won in good style and in good cheer. Pakistan beat Bangladesh in the finals to clinch the gold, which followed up on a surprise silver for Pakistan in Wushu yesterday.. The win in meaningful for Pakistan women cricket, Pakistan cricket, for Pakistan women, and for Pakistan itself. One feels good today for all of the above, and more!
I was quite moved by the interview of the parents of the two players (Dunya News). It was particularly lovely to witness the pride of the father.
Not only the team shattered the stereotype images of Pakistni women, their parents are the kind of supportive,”roshen khyal” folks that the country need more of.

Guys forget India for once and enjoy the victory. This is a historic moment for Pakistani women and their cricket. It shatters the stereotype of women from our society and elates the people of Pakistan in these dark days. Viva Pakistan!
I am delighted.
It would have been even sweeter if the Indian team had participated since without them our job became easier, but the team played great and carried themselves with grace. Something our boys have not been able to do!
Congrats to everyone specially the team. These girls are much more commendable as they had to over come the hurdles to enter this field and then work hard to win.
Excellent job girls, you rule !
